What Is Coaching?
First things first, coaching is not Twelve Step work. I certainly do share experience, strength and hope in my work, but the work itself lies in the coaching process.
Nor am I a sponsor. I am a professionally trained life coach who uses professional coaching skills to support people in their Twelve Step journey.
To be more specific, coaching is a paid professional service where a coach uses a body of exercises, tools, and transformational questions proven to bypass the fear-centers in the brain (in the amygdala), in order to connect a client with their own resourcefulness and their own answers, to support them in meeting their own goals.
The specific goals I help people meet is richly accelerated growth in their Twelve Step journey.
If you’re someone who wants to take your Twelve Step journey and your spiritual growth as far as you possibly can, then I want to work with you. If you’re just trying to find a little relief, I’m not the right person for you.
If you’re a fearless spiritual seeker, you and I can do great things together. Coaching will take you where you want to go in as little time as possible.
Coaching uses established psychological and neurological principles and techniques that allow your brain to side-step negative thought and behavior patterns that stand in the way of anything you may want for yourself in life, whether this is personal, professional or spiritual goals and dreams.
Coaching provides powerful insights.
Could you gain these insights just through meetings and working with a sponsor? Quite possibly, but coaching allows you to reach a level of growth within weeks or months that could otherwise take years.
How does coaching work?
A coach uses powerful and transformational questions, visualizations, and even physical body movements to help you connect with your deepest values and your own personal Truth.
Yes, I know these terms sound kind of esoteric and “woo,” but research on coaching has shown that these things are much, much more effective at motivating you to take action in the direction of your goals than sheer willpower, or even trying to analyze what stands in the way of you taking action will ever be.
Therefore, in order for coaching to be most effective for you, it is important to step into the coaching relationship with an open mind, commitment, persistence, and a willingness to invest time, energy and resources toward your goals.
As you do that, your confidence will skyrocket, and you will build even more momentum that will further strengthen your motivation. You will learn, build skills and personal awareness, and enjoy the personal fulfillment and satisfaction that comes with achieving your goals.
Coaching is neither sponsorship nor therapy. Therapy is a paid service for a process conducted with a licensed counselor to diagnose and heal a psychological or emotional disorder using cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal and psychodynamic methods.
Sponsorship is a free-will offering of another’s experience, strength and hope in recovery.
Coaching does not diagnose disorders. In fact, its purpose is to bring forth a client’s inherent wholeness from within. (IMHO, that inherent wholeness is the divine within each of us.) My own 14-year experience working the 12-Steps uniquely qualifies me to design these professional coaching tools to support those whose goal is 12-Step recovery.
I came to Madeleine knowing that I wanted more from life and from myself. She helped me wade through all of the self doubt, excuses and limiting beliefs, to a place where I found the confidence to take my dream seriously. I finally have that sense of purpose I was so longing for! Madeleine is such a compassionate and beautiful person. Her intuition and gentle approach helped me move forward when I felt stuck.Bethany S
Life and Recovery Coach
I know how incredibly important having a relationship with a Higher Power that works is for anyone in recovery! And I know how challenging it can be to build a loving and trusting relationship with your own understanding of a Higher Power.
And I am here to help you do that!!
I am a professionally trained life and recovery coach who uses coaching, spirituality and Twelve-Step principles to support people recovering their faith in themselves, and in the possibilities life holds, in the face of past traumas, addiction or family addiction, so they can become the woman or the man their Higher Power put them on this Earth to be.
I help people transcend the limiting beliefs these experiences often create so they can build the life they didn’t dare dream they could have.
Madeleine has a remarkable ability to hear what you leave unspoken and then point out that message to you in a compassionate, direct way that will cause you to pause and question your assumptions and limiting beliefs. She is an excellent coach who will support you, challenge you, and inspire you to keep moving forward boldly.Debra P

One of my favorite quotes is "Everything you want is just outside your comfort zone," by Robert Allen. Which means, I have to accept being uncomfortable if I want to change and grow. The challenge for me is, the discomfort triggers fear. As a coach, I read A LOT...
You know the saying: "Waiting for the other shoe to drop." And I know many of us are very, VERY, familiar with that feeling. After having lived with so much chaos and trauma, it can be really hard to trust the calm. It's an attitude that can be a real challenge to...
